It’s a Disney world and we’re just living in it. From theme parks to resorts to cruises and more, parents are prone to think their children are in safe hands when it comes to Disney fare. Films like THE SHAGGY DOG, FREAKY FRIDAY, and HOMEWARD BOUND all suddenly come to mind, and they’re only a handful of the live-action films. Listing the entirety of the animated Disney films would be as superfluous as it wold be time-consuming. That being said, THE PARENT TRAP offers predictable, fun Disney fare.

The Father Of Modern Television: Milton Berle

As if you needed another example of how the mainstream media just doesn’t get it, consider this: Entertainment Weekly’s 2002 obituary of Milton Berle was a mere half page. Berle didn’t even get the page to himself-he shared it with a similar sized obit for Dudley Moore, who died just a few hours later. Both men were afforded less ink than Director Billy Wilder, who also passed away in a rough week for Hollywood types. Not meaning any disrespect to Dudley Moore, a funny and talented but to suggest that Berle’s legacy was of similar impact to the British funnyman is absurd.

It’s no surprise that we live in a world of tag lines. They can teach you a great deal about life. Not only are they the pithy currency of would-be screenwriters and filmmakers alike, but they are semi-clever marketing slogans. That being said, I must say the tag line for BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA is actually dead on. Watching the film (or better yet, reading the book) will indeed help you discover a place that will never leave you, and a friendship that will change you forever. True enough — and well said.

Frank Sinatra is rightful known today as an entertainment icon, but many forget that there was a time when he was just another washed up teen idol trying to reinvent himself artistically and revive his career. After his teen idol stardom ended, Sinatra went through a rough period that he described as ‘all Monday’s’ when his personal life was in shambles, his professional prospects non-existent and his financial status in ruin.

Bob Barker’s Legacy Of Television Greatness

Bob Barker retired from hosting The Price is Right in June of 2007, but he remains an icon in American television history and a worthy role model for all men. In an age of flash in the pan pseudo celebrities and short lived TV fads, theres not an heir apparent in site with the potential to dominate the airwaves for over 35 years. We very well could not see the likes of Bob Barker ever again.
